Heuerling House in Rothenuffeln

The Heimatverein Rothenuffen e.V. has a small single-storey half-timbered building, which was built in Rothenuffeln-Eicksen in 1836. It was occupied by Heuerling families until 1940. It was then dismantled and rebuilt in the Kurpark Rothenuffeln in its original size and floor plan.

The house with a hall, the stable and the living area give insight how living and livestock keeping in a small space under one roof formed one unit. The Heuerling house in the Kurpark Rothenuffeln is a contemporary piece of evidence for an important development phase of rural life.

The Heimatverein Rothenuffeln e.V. uses the Heuerling house as a local history meeting place. On every first Sunday in a month, in the months April to October, different programmes are on offer, e.g. flax spinning, making cigarets, basket weaving, broom and rope making and extracting honey. Homemade cakes and lard sandwiches as well as coffee and cold beverages are on offer. In addition, interested guests can partake in guided walks through Rothenuffeln, into the Wiehen hills or into the moor in the month April to October.

On these days, from 2pm-5pm, professional members of the Heimatverein are available to inform about the Heuerling, the history of Rothenuffeln and the farmer baths. The house is also open to groups by prior booking at different times.

The Heuerling House can be found in the Kurpark Rothenuffeln, Griepshop, entry via the car park of the community centre.
